In April 2018, during the operational-search activities, Ivashin's phones were wiretapped and his house was monitored. Based on religious sayings and conversations with acquaintances, Ivashin is recognized as the leader of a group of 14 people. Operational activities are supervised by detectives from Yakutsk.

The court's verdict does not specify why legal actions such as reading and discussing the Bible with friends and relatives are regarded as religious hatred and enmity.
