On June 26, 2019 it became known that in the town of Unecha (Bryansk Region), law enforcement agencies searched three apartments of locals who were mistakenly believed to adhere to the religious views of Jehovah's Witnesses. In one apartment, even floors were broken open in search of forbidden literature.
Tatyana Shamsheva, 42, and Olga Silayeva, 31, were arrested in the Bryansk region on June 11, 2019, after 22 searches were conducted in the homes of local Jehovah's Witnesses in the towns of Unecha and Novozybkov, and the villages of Klimovo and Dobrik. Since then, they have been held in a detention center.
