The Case of Kononov and Others in Uyar

Investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant of Justice A. A. Tkachenko, initiates a criminal case for organizing the activity of an extremist organization against Aflatun Safarov; for participating in the activity of an extremist organization — against Viktor Kononov, Aleksandr and Zakhar Vakarev. Another defendant in the case is Amaliya Malchugova, who is suspected of participating in the activity of an extremist organization and involving others in it.

The Uyar District Court chooses a restriction measure for 60-year-old Kononov and 62-year-old Safarov in the form of detention.

Investigator Tkachenko is bringing 78-year-old Amaliya Malchugova as a defendant. The court order states that the woman "actively participated in the Organization by studying materials... engaged in training discussions... provided her living premises for in-person meetings of Organization members." The peaceful believer was required to sign a recognizance agreement.

Aflatun is in a cell with four prisoners, sleeping on the top bunk. The room has water, a refrigerator, a kettle and a TV. Every day there is an hour-long walk in the yard. Relations with neighbors are respectful, he is the eldest among them. A believer has a New Testament. Aflatun needs treatment.

Viktor Kononov is in quarantine. There are six people in the cell where he is being held. Although the room has not been renovated for a long time, it is warm and has cold and hot water. Victor can walk for an hour every day. His blood pressure periodically rises. In addition, due to previous tuberculosis and a severe form of covid, Viktor developed pulmonary fibrosis, and he needs constant medical supervision and treatment.

Investigator Tkachenko is bringing Sergey Soroka, Aleksandr and Zakhar Vakarev as defendants in the case of participating in the activity of an extremist organization. The Vakarevs are required to sign a recognizance agreement, while Soroka is placed under house arrest.

By the decision of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Court on the appeal against the preventive measure, Ivan Starikov was released from the pretrial detention center. He is placed under house arrest.

Viktor Kononov regularly receives parcels and letters. He has the Bible in the Synodal translation.

The court changes the preventive measure against Aflatun Safarov: after 6 months in a pretrial detention center, he is placed under house arrest.
