The Case of Moroz in Simferopol

Case History

On a February morning in 2026, officers of the Investigative Committee came with a search to the homes of two female residents of the Simferopol District. The primary school teacher, Anna Moroz, her relatives, and another believer were then taken for questioning in Simferopol. Anna signed a recognizance agreement; the next day, the court imposed a ban on certain actions. In April 2026, the criminal case went to court.

    The witness for the prosecution, I. I. Latyshev, is being questioned. He does not remember exactly the purpose of the money transfers from Anna’s card. Latyshev cannot explain precisely what “active member” of the organization means — this is how he characterizes the defendant. When the defendant asks whether the religious group “Simferopol — Molodyozhnoye” is banned, Latyshev answers that it is not.

    Two other prosecution witnesses do not appear at the hearing. The prosecutor proposes moving on to the examination of the materials in the second volume of the criminal case.
