Case of Matveeva in Lesosibirsk

Case History

In the fall of 2021, FSB and Investigative Committee officers conducted searches in Lesosibirsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory) as part of the case against Valery Shitz. Investigative actions then took place at Anna Matveeva. In January 2023, a criminal case was opened against her. In discussing the Bible with friends, the investigation saw “participation in the activities of the banned LRO.” A written undertaking not to leave was taken from the believer.

    A. M. Kunko, Senior Investigator of the Investigation Department for Lesosibirsk of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia, initiates a criminal case against Anna Matveeva on suspicion of participating in the activities of a banned organization. The believer is accused of discussing the Bible with friends in her own apartment. According to the investigator, these actions can be interpreted as "participation in the activities of the LRO".
